Poul Cadovius was a landmark Danish designer, best known for his innovative shelving furniture and architectural designs. Despite being among the first Danish furniture designers to work with plastics, he is best remembered for his primed wood shelving units arranged in rectilinear gridded formations. Born on September 27, 1911 in Frederiksberg, Denmark, his work earned him a silver medal at the 11th Triennale in Milan in 1957 and a gold medal at the 10th International Inventors Fair in 1961 Brussels. Cadovius died in March 2011 at the age of 99, having held over 400 patents over the course of his long and prestigious career.
